Listed Buildings

The two heritage buildings, the Dock Managers Office and the Dock Buffet, are grade II listed, placing restrictions on interior restructuring. To respect the heritage and character of the original structure, no changes will be made. As there is little heritage left of the former docklands, the buildings will be maintained and utilised as an example of integrated heritage.

Heritage

The heritage buildings, alongside the new community theatre, will provide the space for meetings, support, activities and workshops which will provide the basis for community engagement and interaction. Locals can use the buildings for whatever reason they want, from art to debating. The building's use will reactive the blue network and therefore foster engagement with the waterfront.

The heritage buildings share parallels with Plymouth's building, the Waterfront. The Waterfront was formally the Royal Western Yacht Club house and is now a restaurant bar, providing services to the community as well as uplifting the waterfront. The heritage building will reflect the element of maritime heritage with public use.
